Air Guitar World Championship... Yes, you heard it right, one of the weirdest championships is held in Finland every year. And you thought Finland was calm and boring? :D
Here is this year's winner - Nanami "Seven Seas" Nagura from Japan.
“A young Japanese woman has been crowned air guitar world champion after three days of gruelling competition at this year’s Air Guitar Championships in Oulu.
Nanami “Seven Seas” Nagura headbanged her way to victory on Friday, taking home her country’s first international title after seeing off reigning US champion Matt “Airistotle” Burns, as well as last year’s winner Eric “Mean” Merlin, who finished in third place.”
The event’s producer Susanna Kyllönen “insists that, behind the apparent foolishness of grown men and women lunging about on stage pretending to play rock music, air guitar can have real value as a performance art and as a way of bringing people together.
“Yesterday we had a Ukrainian-Russian air guitar duo on stage at half time. We’re showing the world that people can be friends even though their countries are fighting,” she says.”
