I came across this short documentary about Finnish houses and wanted to share it here. Although I love nature more than buildings, the video was interesting for me. It'll be especially interesting for the fans of Alvar Aalto, famous Finnish architect and designer.

  Every year there is a book fair at the Helsinki Exhibition Centre (Helsingin Messukeskus). I'm not going there this time, but I have photos from the fairs of 2008 and 2009.

    After overcrowded Moscow, Finland seemed barely populated when I moved here in 2009. :D At the book fair I finally saw crowds of Finns. Where were they hiding all this time?

♪ The 69 Eyes

  This goth'n'roll band was formed in Helsinki in1989. Now they're one of those worldwide famous Finnish bands :). Their vocalist Jyrki 69 is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador of Finland. The band is currently working on their new album that will be released in September 2012.

  Одна из самых популярных фолк-групп в мире, финская Värttinä начала творить музыку в 1983 году и продолжает до сих пор. Группа состоит из трёх вокалисток и ансамбля музыкантов. Они поют на финском карельском, мастерски сочетая народные песни с современными обработками. Музыка у Värttinä очень разнообразная — от заводных полек до убаюкивающих колыбельных. Послушаем?

  One of the most popular folk-bands in the world, Finnish Värttinä has been creating music since 1983. The band consists of three female vocalists and a few musicians. ♪ Northern Kings

  Что получится, если четыре финских вокалиста решат записать музыку вместе? Правильно — группа с нескромным названием «Северные Короли». Это детище бравых Марко Хиетала (Nightwish, Tarot), Тони Какко (Sonata Arctica), Яркко Ахолы (Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale) и Юхи-Пекки Леппялуото (Charon, Harmaja). Заслужили ли они свой трон, судить вам :).

  What happens if four Finnish vocalists decide to record music together? Right, a band with not a very modest name Northern Kings. It consists of dashing Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni, ex-Dreamtale) and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon, Harmaja). Are they worthy of their throne? You are to judge :).
