Lapland's nature

In summer 2010 we visited our relatives in Lapland. We spent a few days in a cabin on the lake shore, and I took quite a few photos of flowers, needles and cones :). Let's walk with me to Lapland?

Nature started in the car already – some garden flower flew in there :).

Going to the lake. We'll have to cross it.

I wonder if anyone lives there.

Wagtails made a nest under the cabin's roof. I enjoyed watching them flying around and catching mosquitoes for their kids.

Blueberries were everywhere.

    1. Thank you, Ebie! Hiking and berry-picking, I'd say. There are blueberries, cloudberries and some other berries growing in abundance there.

  2. Kaunis ja mukava 'Kuva-Sarja' Suomen-Kesästä.
Se tulee jälleen 3-4 kuukauden kuluttua.
Aina se on saapunut - yhtä kauniina - lämmintäkin...!
    Hyvää maaliskuun alkua - Eko

  8. Hi, Ekaterina,
This is not comment. I happened to read your comment on Hina Doll Cremation. A long time ago, I took my old set of Hina Dolls to 宝鏡寺 Hokyo-ji Temple in Kyoto. Because they looked old enough to end their life. After the Buddhist ritual, my dolls also were cremated with other dolls, and ashes were buried under the memorial stone tablet. I wonder whether there are any countries in the world where the dolls are cremated like human beings. But it does not mean that all dolls are cremated after they finish their life. Only dolls whose owners have deep affection towards them are cremated just like humanbeings. Many of old dolls are damped when the owner don't need them any more, I guess. I think this custom seems you strange.
    Have a nice weekend

    1. Thank you for telling me more about it, Keiko! Yes, it's strange for me, but now that you told me more, it seems cute and touching to take such care of your dolls.

      Have a nice week!
